A video file usually carries at least one audio track alongside the picture. MP4 and MOV commonly hold AAC audio, MKV can carry several tracks in different codecs, and WebM usually holds Opus or Vorbis. This tool reads the video and keeps only that sound.
The video stream is dropped, not converted, and the audio is written as MP3, AAC or WAV. Bitrate, sample rate and channel count apply to that result; if the source track was already lossy, a compressed output adds one more generation.
Pick the format you want the result in before you add anything. Every file in the queue is converted to that one format, so the choice shapes the whole run.
Drop files onto the page or use the file picker. Each file is checked against the formats this tool accepts, and anything that does not match is reported by name.
When a conversion finishes, download the converted file. Uploads and results are deleted after 2 hours, so keep your own copy.
Every video below is accepted as input, and its audio track is written as MP3, AAC, and WAV. MP3 and AAC compress the sound, while WAV stores the decoded samples uncompressed.
Extraction decodes the audio already present in the video. A lossy source track (AAC, MP3 or Opus) loses a little more when re-encoded to MP3 or AAC, so a higher bitrate keeps the difference small. WAV receives the decoded samples without a further lossy step, but its size is far larger because nothing is compressed. The sample rate and channel count can be kept or reduced.
Guests can convert files up to 100 megabytes and run 5 conversions per day. A free account raises the limit to 500 megabytes and 25 conversions per day, and paid plans go up to 100 gigabytes.
Files you upload and the results you download are kept only long enough for you to collect them and are deleted after 2 hours. After that window nothing of yours remains on the server.
You do not need an account to convert a file; signing in only raises the size and daily limits.
MP3 plays almost everywhere and is the safe choice. AAC is more efficient at the same quality and fits Apple devices, while WAV is best for editing because it is uncompressed and large.
The video stream is discarded; only the audio track is written. The original video file stays untouched on your device, and the result is an audio file.
No. WAV stores the decoded track without further loss, but it cannot restore detail the original audio encoding already discarded. It is larger, not better.
Uploads and results are deleted after 2 hours. Download the audio file as soon as its conversion finishes.
