About NexMedia
What NexMedia is
NexMedia is a free online file converter. You drop a file into the page, choose the format you want, and download the result when it is ready. It covers 75 formats across video, audio, image, archive, e-book, vector, CAD, and font files, so a single tool handles everyday jobs such as turning a video into MP3 or a photo into JPG as well as specialist formats such as camera RAW, CAD drawings and font files.
There is nothing to install and you do not need an account to start: guests can convert with free credits, and signing in adds conversion history, more monthly credits and the option to buy packages or subscribe. Every converter page lists the formats it accepts, and each supported conversion has its own page that explains what changes when you move from one format to the other, which settings matter and what to expect from the output. NexMedia doubles as a file compressor: the compress pages re-encode a file at the quality you choose so it takes less space.
How conversion works
Your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection and checked for malware before anything else happens. A worker built for that file type then converts it, and a download link appears as soon as the job finishes. The conversion runs on our servers, not on your device, so your computer stays free and a large video does not slow it down. Small files are usually done in a few seconds; large files, especially long videos, take longer, depending on the format and the size of the file.
You can queue several files at once. Each file is uploaded and converted on its own, so one slow file never holds up the rest, and a failed conversion does not affect the others.
Limits and quality
Each format is handled by a conversion engine chosen for it, such as FFmpeg for video and audio, libvips for images and Calibre for e-books. The options you see depend on the format you pick, for example codec, bitrate, resolution or quality, so you can trade file size against fidelity instead of accepting one fixed result.
Converted files are exactly what the engine produces: no watermark and no branding overlay. Each plan has its own maximum file size, and the pricing page lists the exact limit for every plan. Failed conversions are never charged. Developers who want to automate the same pipeline can use the REST API instead of the web page.
Privacy and retention
Files are processed only for the conversion you asked for. Converted files are kept for 2 hours and then deleted automatically, and the deletion is verified. NexMedia does not sell your files or mine them for data.
The security page describes the controls in detail, and the privacy policy states what is collected and why. If something looks wrong, the contact page is the place to report it.
Frequently asked questions
What file formats can NexMedia convert?
NexMedia converts 75 formats across video, audio, image, archive, e-book, vector, CAD, and font files — everyday formats like MP4, MP3 and JPG, and specialist ones like HEIC, FLAC and DWG. The tool pages list every supported conversion.
Is NexMedia free to use?
You can convert as a guest with free credits, no account required. When you need more, buy a credit package or pick a subscription on the pricing page. Failed conversions are never charged.
How do I convert a file?
Drop your file in the browser, pick the target format, and start the job. A worker fleet does the conversion for you and a download link appears when it finishes — nothing to install.
Does NexMedia add watermarks to converted files?
No. Converted files are exactly what the conversion engine produces — no watermarks, no branding overlays.
Is there a file size limit?
Yes. Guests can convert files up to 100 megabytes and 5 per day; a free account raises this to 500 megabytes and 25 per day; paid plans go up to 100 gigabytes. The pricing page lists the exact limit for every plan.
Are my files safe and private?
Files are uploaded over encrypted connections, processed on isolated workers and deleted automatically: converted files are kept for 2 hours, then removed. We do not sell or share your files. See the security page for the full picture.
