Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions people ask most about converting files with NexMedia — formats, cost, privacy and automation.

Questions and answers

What file formats can NexMedia convert?

NexMedia converts 75 formats across video, audio, image, archive, e-book, vector, CAD, and font files — everyday formats like MP4, MP3 and JPG, and specialist ones like HEIC, FLAC and DWG. The tool pages list every supported conversion.

Is NexMedia free to use?

You can convert as a guest with free credits, no account required. When you need more, buy a credit package or pick a subscription on the pricing page. Failed conversions are never charged.

How do I convert a file?

Drop your file in the browser, pick the target format, and start the job. A worker fleet does the conversion for you and a download link appears when it finishes — nothing to install.

What is the best way to convert a file online?

Open the page for your exact conversion — JPG to PNG, for example —, add the file and download the result. That route pre-selects both formats, so nothing needs configuring unless you want to change quality or size. Nothing is installed and no account is required.

Can I convert files on my phone or tablet?

Yes. The converter runs in the browser on iPhone, iPad and Android, so there is no app to install. Picking a file from the camera roll works the same way as on a desktop, and the same size and daily limits apply.

Do I need an account to convert files?

No. Guests can convert with free credits. Creating an account gives you conversion history, more monthly credits and the option to buy packages or subscribe.

Does NexMedia add watermarks to converted files?

No. Converted files are exactly what the conversion engine produces — no watermarks, no branding overlays.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes. Guests can convert files up to 100 megabytes and 5 per day; a free account raises this to 500 megabytes and 25 per day; paid plans go up to 100 gigabytes. The pricing page lists the exact limit for every plan.

How long does a conversion take?

Small files usually convert in a few seconds; large files, especially long videos, take longer, depending on the format and file size. Conversions run on isolated workers, so your device stays free while the job processes.

Are my files safe and private?

Files are uploaded over encrypted connections, processed on isolated workers and deleted automatically: converted files are kept for 2 hours, then removed. We do not sell or share your files. See the security page for the full picture.

Can I automate conversions with an API?

Yes. NexMedia exposes the same pipeline as a REST API: build jobs from upload, convert and export tasks, and connect them to your own storage and application logic. The API quickstart walks through the first request.

What if my conversion fails?

A failed conversion costs nothing — the credits are not charged. Retry the job, and if it keeps failing, contact support with the job link and we will investigate.
